I had already planned my first pre-EDC night to stop by Surrender Nightclub, the evening version of Encore Beach Club. Imagine a beach club with tiered pools, oversized lily pads and day beds but at night with DJs. It is mesmerizing. Ever since my first visit it’s been one of my favorite clubs simply for the views.
So on this particular pre-EDC Thursday evening I headed there to see Dirty South perform. My friend and I had just arrived and checked into the hotel at 9:30pm. We rushed to change and put on our sharpest looks for the night. Given that it was summer the pools were open and what was typically a nightclub was transformed into a nighttime pool party.
I didn’t want to swim but simply dress up and go dance. So I stood close to the stage where Dirty South was playing, took off my shoes and danced with everyone to progressive house tracks.
At the end of the chaos and excitement I just wanted to dip my feet into the water. It was the first day in months I felt a moment of peace and quiet despite the craziness nearby.
